How It Works

1) Create Your Giving Circle Page on Grapevine

Name your Giving Circle, update your group details (network affiliation, location & contact info), set up your group rules & permissions, and set your giving goal & cadence (e.g. $10,000 quarterly) — all within minutes!

2) Invite Members

Simply share your Giving Circle invite link by email, URL or social media. Giving Circle members can join in minutes!

3) Make & Track Donations

Members can donate online through Grapevine or send in their checks or DAF payments and even set up automated recurring payments. Off-platform donations can also be recorded, ensuring all contributions are tracked in one place. Grapevine automatically sends receipts to members and provides consolidated payouts to nonprofits, reducing your administrative time and effort. All of this is FREE thanks to our tip model, where Giving Circle members have the option to leave a one-time or recurring tip to help sustain Grapevine's work.

4) Nominate, Vote & Give

Members can nominate nonprofits and vote on their favorites, an optional step that can be done directly within Grapevine. Once the recipient is finalized, funds are disbursed in a single, consolidated payment, and nonprofits can share thank you notes and impact videos with your members to celebrate the difference you’ve made together.

5) Host Events & Engage Your Giving Circle

Bring your community together by hosting events directly through Grapevine. Use the event feature to create gatherings, track RSVPs, and add them to members’ calendars. Whether it’s a kick-off meeting, celebration, or voting night, Grapevine makes it simple to keep members engaged and connected.

Frequently asked questions

How long does setup take?

Most Giving Circles can get the basics done in just a few minutes. You can invite members the same day!

Can members give recurring donations?

Yes. Members can set up automated recurring donations on Grapevine. This feature helps Giving Circles maintain steady participation between grant cycles, ensures predictable funding, and reduces the administrative work of chasing checks. Members can set up their recurring gift online in minutes, and they’ll automatically receive a tax receipt for each donation.

How do grant disbursements work?

Grapevine disburses funds directly to your selected nonprofit and provides a clear record for your members. This ensures transparency, reduces administrative work, and allows everyone to see the impact of their contributions. Members also receive automatic tax receipts for their donations.

What does it cost?

All of Grapevine’s features are free for Giving Circles. There’s no cost to create a Giving Circle, invite members, or run a giving cycle. To help sustain Grapevine's work, supporters can add an optional tip when making a one‑time donation or setting up a recurring donation.

When you see a tip option during the donation process (including recurring donation setup), it’s an optional contribution to support the Grapevine platform. Tips are separate from your donation to the nonprofit and can be adjusted, or removed, before you complete your donation. Thank you for helping us keep Grapevine accessible to every Giving Circle.

Are there any payment processing fees?

Grapevine’s payment processing partner charges a fee, but it’s offered at a discounted rate for nonprofits:

  • 2.2% + $0.30 per transaction for major credit cards

  • 3.5% for American Express

  • 3% for Donor Advised Fund (DAF) and check processing
