Campaign Eligibility and Requirements

Close the Gap Campaign

How It Works

When you’re almost there, we’ll help you finish strong:

If your Giving Circle meets the following, we’ll match the remaining gap to your goal, up to $2,000:

  • You've raised at least 67% of your goal (Learn how set a donation goal on Grapevine.)
  • You submit your grant request by December 1, 2025
  • Your nonprofit recipient has an annual budget under $2M
  • The qualified nonprofit is nominated by a member in your Giving Circle
  • Your Giving Circle has:
    • At least 10 members, and
    • If under 25 members, at least 50% or more of your members have made a donation in the current cycle

After your Giving Circle leader(s) submit your qualified nonprofit to receive your grant through your Giving Circle page, submit this short survey so Grapevine’s team knows to confirm your eligibility and process your Nextdoor match.

Example: Giving Circle with Over 25 Members

Let’s say your Giving Circle has:

  • 30 members
  • A quarterly goal of $4,000

By the end of your grant cycle, you’ve:

  • Raised $2,680 from member donations
  • Selected an eligible nonprofit with an annual budget under $2M
  • Submitted your grant request and survey response before December 1, 2025

Since you have more than 25 members, there’s no minimum donor participation requirement.

You qualify for a $1,320 match from the Nextdoor Foundation—bringing you to your full $4,000 goal!

Example: Giving Circle with Under 25 Members

Let’s say your Giving Circle has:

  • 20 members
  • A goal of $3,000

By the end of your grant cycle, you’ve:

  • Raised $2,100 from donations
  • Had 10 members contribute (50% participation)
  • Chosen a qualified nonprofit and submitted your grant and survey response on time

Because your Circle has fewer than 25 members, the 50% donor participation rule applies—and you met it! You receive a $900 match, reaching your $3,000 goal with support from the Nextdoor Foundation.

Bonus Grants for Dedicated Nonprofits

How to Be Considered:

We’re looking for heart and impact. Nonprofits receiving Close the Gap matches are automatically in the running.

Receiving nonprofits may be selected based on:

  • Thank-you note or video submitted through Grapevine’s platform
  • Photos or updates on how grant funds are being used
  • Inspiring stories of community impact
  • Exciting, in-progress work that could use extra support
  • Final selections made by Nextdoor Foundation

What is Grapevine?

Grapevine is the only platform dedicated to Giving Circles and the broader collaborative giving movement – where people connect to grow the greater good. We help people to connect with other like-minded people, pool their donations, discover nonprofits, and decide together where to give. With tools to keep members connected, collect donations, discover nonprofits, share updates, host voting, report transparently and more, Grapevine makes it simple for groups to launch, grow, and succeed. Grapevine has helped direct over $48M to more than 7,000 small, local nonprofits across the country.

What is Nextdoor Foundation?

Nextdoor Foundation was founded to uplift and strengthen local communities by supporting people and causes that truly make a difference. Through collaborations with other 501(c)(3) nonprofits, the foundation identifies and supports deserving individuals and community initiatives.

We believe small gifts can inspire and empower new leaders across the country, and the world, to deepen our connections to each other and inspire kinder communities.

About the Partnership

Grapevine and Nextdoor Foundation launched a partnership in 2024 to help more neighbors to connect and grow the greater good, together. We started with a campaign to help local community leaders to start Giving Circles within their neighborhoods across Los Angeles by providing them with a combination of training, support, and matching donations. We are expanding our collaboration in 2025 through the Close the Gap campaign to help local Giving Circles across the country meet their goals and amplify their impact through targeted matching dollars.
